You will find that as you play you get to learn so much. There are many games we have played right from our childhood. We liked the way those games used to challenge us. In school, we started formally studying, but there were still games. Even as we made time for games, sports, adventures on weekends and such activities, we got the chance to learn a lot. There was a lot of fun involved, but there was also a lot of learning going on. This is the concept that escape rooms bring to us, sometimes without our knowledge.
Escape rooms have all we need to learn a lot, but all of it camouflaged as having fun. There shall be the mental challenge, in a physical spatial context, as well as interaction with other people. Your participation shall leave you with certain intelligences honed by the end.
You start by honing your spatial intelligence when you look at what is in the room. You shall look at all the things you can move about, and all those fixed in position, and make a mental note of their location. This shall come in handy as you are solving the puzzles.
This shall also help develop your logical-mathematical intelligence. There shall be counting, performing some operations, solving geometrical puzzles, and the like. The logical intelligence shall get a workout when you have to connect clues to the locks in place, the way a puzzle is to be solved, and such issues.
When all logical explanations cease to make sense, you shall need to be most creative. This is where creative intelligence comes in handy, to help you solve what was logically impossible to solve. You will have to take several perspectives on the same problem and see how things that could not logically relate in the first place now seem to. Creativity shall thus prove indispensable at such a time.
Linguistic intelligence shall be well tested and developed as you decipher encoded texts and such instructions. As you look at riddles and find solutions to tell the team shall help you keep developing your linguistic intelligence.
You will also hone your emotional, interpersonal, and collaborative intelligence, highly needed in team building exercise. When put in a highly pressurized state, you will begin to act not in the same way you usually do. You will come to appreciate the fact that your survival can be due to the input of others in the team. The way you all relate and come together to work the problem shall determine how well you manage to escape the room.
It is the aim of all employers to see their teams develop these intelligences when they arrange for such sessions.
